Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be enjoying parenthood now that baby Archie Harrison is getting ready to turn three-months-old, but don’t expect the couple to fill their royal halls with an abundance of children. Meghan Markle guest-edited the September issue of British Vogue (a move that is not going over well with many fashion critics) and in the issue, Prince Harry got involved. In fact, Prince Henry Charles Albert David, the Duke of Sussex and Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel, interviewed Jane Goodall, the famed conservationist best known for her research work with chimpanzees. In the issue, he spoke about racism but he and Jane Goodall also spoke about climate change. This was the opening for Prince Harry to discuss his and Meghan Markle’s plans to only have two children — tops!
Prince Harry stated the following in British Vogue.
“What we need to remind everybody is: these are things that are happening now. We are already living in it. We are the frog in the water and it’s already been brought to the boil. Which is terrifying.”
At this point, Dr. Jane Goodall interjected, “Happening and happened. It is terrifying. Especially as you’ve just had a baby.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6, 2019. Prince Harry responded to Dr. Goodall.
“I know. It does make it different. I think, weirdly because of the people that I’ve met and the places I’ve been fortunate enough to go, I’ve always had a connection and a love for nature. I view it differently now, without question. But I’ve always wanted to try and ensure that, even before having a child and hoping to have children…”
At this point, Dr. Jane Goodall interjected once more and stated, “Not too many!”
To which Prince Harry responded, “Two, maximum! But I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And surely, as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”

Some have expressed surprise at Prince Harry’s remarks and also felt that he was taking a dig at his brother as Prince William and Kate Middleton have three children: Prince George of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Prince Louis of Cambridge. It’s unclear whether Prince William and Princess Kate plan to have any more children.
