Photos Of The Real 'Sully' Co-Pilot Will Make You Approve Of Aaron Eckhart's Casting

Aaron Eckhart, in my opinion, is the leading man we need and deserve. He can play it all — hero, romantic interest, villain. He's also not too bad on the eyes either. And if you, like me, stan hard for Eckhart, you'll be pleased to know you can see him on screen in the new movie Sully, which was released on Sept. 9. Sully tells the story of US Airways flight 1549 which, in 2009, had to make an emergency water landing on the Hudson River. The captain, the titular Sully, is played by Tom Hanks, while the co-captain of the flight, Jeff Skiles, is played by Eckhart. Now, I've already showed you what the real Sully looks like, but what about Skiles? Well, photos of the real Sully co-pilot show that the casting of Eckhart in the role actually makes a lot of sense, at least in terms of resemblance.

In truth, I don't believe Hanks looks like Sully, but Hanks could play a bouquet of flowers and I'd think it was a disturbingly realistic portrayal of those flowers. And in general, what an actor looks like versus what the real life person looks like doesn't matter so much as the quality of the star's portrayal. But Eckhart does, sort of look like Skiles. Sure, it's not a perfect match, but I definitely think there's a bit of a resemblance there. Or hey, maybe it's just the mustache.

How about you decide for yourself? Check out Skiles below...

Here's that mustache again. There's a bit of Eckhart in there somewhere. Maybe. Possibly. If you squint?

OK, so maybe he doesn't really look that much like Eckhart, but he doesn't not look like him either, ya know?

Either way, Skiles was an integral part of the landing of US Airways flight 1549 and together he and Sully saved the passengers on that plane. Now, Skiles can see a fictionalized version of him, played by a man who may or may not resemble him, in the movie Sully.
