Funny woman Melissa McCarthy is back with the funniest film of the summer ‘The Boss’.

Melissa plays the all powerful Michelle Darnell who is the 47th richest woman in America, but after she is arrested for insider trading Michelle sees her “perfect” life fall apart.

After being released from prison we see Darnell team up with her former assistant Claire (Kristen Bell) and Claire’s daughter Rachel to create the ultimate chocolate brownie sales team ‘Darnell’s Darlings’.

But not everyone is happy to help Michelle rise back to the top of the business world and we find out that she has a lot of enemies willing to bring her down.

What follows is a rather heartwarming tale of a woman who has never known the love of a family find out the true meaning of love.

Melissa plays the character perfectly and allows herself to be seen as hysterical and vulnerable at the same time, and even though the plot is rather thin at times, there are some genuinely hysterical moments such as the all out street brawl that breaks out between Darnell’s Darlings and the Dandelions.

The Boss is funny, heartwarming, outrageous and silly in equal measure.

RATING 3.5/5.

The Boss is in UK cinemas now.
