Even though music lovers are familiar with Tyler Hubbard’s looks and vocals, they might not know his name. The last 12 years of Hubbard’s life were the voice of the platinum-selling country duo Florida Georgia Line.
Florida Georgia Line, which had a string of singles including “Cruise,” “H.O.L.Y.,” and “Round Here,” decided to call it quits in 2021, making them one of the most successful country music duos ever. While fellow band member Brian Kelley came forward about his solo aspirations almost afterward, it took Hubbard a little longer to make up his mind.
The happily married dad of three imagined his work as a talented songwriter would take him behind the scenes. Soon, though, Hubbard recognized that he was not quite ready to leave the spotlight behind.
His first solo effort, “5 Foot 9,” was released in the spring of this year, and it has quickly become a Top 10 smash on country radio, with over 117 million streams. This mid-tempo tune is on Hubbard’s recently released E.P., Dancin’ in the Country, and was inspired by his 5’10” wife, Hayley.
Hubbard gushes to PEOPLE, “I’m having a great time.” The experience has given me a fresh outlook on life and an increased appreciation for the blessings of music, human connection, and performing in front of a live audience.
The 35-year-old Hubbard has matured much since he and Kelley formed Florida Georgia Line in 2010. Formerly a bachelor, he is now married with a family of four: daughter Olivia, age 412, and sons Luca, age 3, and Atlas, age 2, who will all turn three this month.

His songs reflect the growth of his perspective as a man and an artist. Says he’s most passionate about “bringing songs to life,” which includes writing them. Because of that, I’ve been able to follow my dream of becoming a traveling musician and meeting my fans wherever they may be.
